Lately Google has made a lot of changes especially on the search algorithm. Just like any other blogs or websites, this blog also experiencing the effect of changes. The most obvious effects are the traffic and the search queries. In order to keep up with the trend and changes, this blog must undergo some changes too. Although I’m not sure exactly what kind of changes will be suitable, but there is one thing I’m sure every bloggers need to do. That is to improve the quality of content. Ironically, I suppose every bloggers knew and understand the important of good quality content, and are trying their best doing so. Just that some of the articles we produced are just not good enough.

Besides the content of the blog, the SEO implementation needs some tuning and modification. This part is a bit difficult because every SEO experts online are still studying and testing the new search algorithm. I guess we just have to skip SEO temporally and just focus on producing good quality content.

The WordPress theme of this blog will be change and so does some other parts in this blog. The changes will be done slowly and one step at a time so that I can continue posting as usual. If you found any errors or difficulty accessing any pages, please let me know.

Should You Spend Money on Mobile Advertising?

While we are all discussing about the importance of mobile marketing, creating mobile sites and apps, there is one thing which we need to think about. Do we really need to spend money on mobile advertising to promote our business? I was reading this article title “Most Companies Should Stop Spending Money on Mobile Advertising” from ClickZ, and it makes me think if mobile advertising really necessary for our business. This includes investing money creating mobile site or app.

On average, 10 to 15 percent of all traffic comes from mobile devices and the majority of the experiences a consumer encounters are subpar. As a business, would you ever just ignore 10 to 15 percent of your customers? I’ve never heard anyone answer this question with a serious yes. So why is 79 percent of Fortune 500 companies doing this today?

This is the paragraph from the article mention above which strikes every entrepreneurs and businesses that plans to go mobile. I suppose before investing money on mobile advertising, creating mobile site or designing mobile apps, it will be better to first study the traffic that comes from mobile device. It will be best to research the number of customers who actually using mobile devices to get to our business. You might even study the potential business and revenue after going mobile. Remember that businesses go mobile not because it is a trend or because everybody else is going mobile, it is because it is a potential market. So go mobile only if the numbers and statistics show that you‘ll make money.

One thing for sure, your business has to be ready to go mobile when your customers shift to mobile usage. The timing must be right. Bringing your business into mobile too soon before your customers are ready is a waste of money and resources. But if customers are already gone mobile and your business is still not ready, you will lose customers.

Base on the changes listed above, especially those which I highlighted in bold text, tuning and editing are required for our blog or website. First of all we need or must post only good quality content. Even if it requires us to skip our routine posting schedule, it is better to skip a post then posting low quality article. Instead of posting daily, take more time to produce good quality articles by posting only 2~3 articles per week. Secondly, review your blog or website on the keywords targeting. Rephrase or edit the pages and posts to reduce the implementation of keywords targeting so that the overall reading experience becomes better. I’m sure there are lots of rooms for improvement you can do especially with the first article which you posted years ago. While doing so, try improving the quality of the articles with more detail explanation. Adding examples, video clips, percentage, numbers and statistic may help.

Currently, SEO experts are making updates to cater for Google search algorithm changes which affect ranking of many blogs and websites. Every time when a new set of rules is implemented, you need to change the game play in order to stay on top.
