We know that Yahoo Answers is actually a no-follow site. If you’re trying to generate backlinks to your blog or website by posting answers on Yahoo Answers, it won’t be doing any good in terms of building links. But still we continue to see many people are still posting answers on Yahoo Answers. I did some checking and discovered that they are doing so not for the backlinks but purely just for the traffic.
If you have an email account at Yahoo, perhaps it will be a good idea to get My Yahoo too. You can build you profile, create an avatar and starts answering question at Yahoo Answers. You need to build your reputation by giving some good advice on Yahoo Answers. Once your avatar shows up on Yahoo Answers often and constantly helping people with good advice, people will notice you and start checking out your profile. This is when people will go to your blog or website. It might take some time to build up a good reputation but just treat it as an activity when you have extra time. Each answer you post is a chance for a person to check on your blog or website. If you already working on social community network suck as Facebook and My Space for traffic, you should consider adding Yahoo Answers into your traffic building activity too.
There is an auto blogging plugin for WordPress call WP Robot which enable user to collect Yahoo Answers and paste it on the blog. That means if you post on Yahoo answers with your link included, there is a chance that people who are using WP Robot will pull it and paste it on their blog or website. Although this is not quite a good idea of building links, but a link is a link. We also need to bear in mind that most of the auto posting blog or website does not own high page rank.
P/S: Every action that we take for building links or interact with people online will certainly bring some traffic to our blog or website. Even if it’s just purely a visit from people who wants to take a look at our blog, we may never know how big the effect. Some time we might just hit a jackpot which brings lots of traffic or even business opportunities.

You make a good point that a lot of people overlook – kind if like not seeing the forest for the trees. We’re all working on SEO by link building and why are we doing that? For traffic… so leaving links on no-follow sites makes sense if it can bring you traffic – that’s the whole point anyway.
That’s fact, Yahoo answers can bring a lot of targeted traffic. It takes a lot of time to research and answer properly, but definitely worth.
