Microsoft offers to buy Yahoo for $44.6 billion

This has been a hot topic lately and a lot of blogs are posting about it. I’m not going to talk about the details of Microsoft offers to buy Yahoo for $44.6 billion. You can get most of the information just by doing a search on it. I just have some thoughts about this issue that I like to share with you all.

As user, I’m only interested on how this will affect on us. Frankly speaking I don’t feel the merger will benefits users at all. We all have witness how Microsoft treats us with their Windows, especially the latest version Vista. Reducing a competitor will leave us with only 2 choices, either Google or Microsoft. What we are talking about here is the services provided by these companies online. When we choose to use a search engine, we are actually using their services that translate into programs. If you like to use Yahoo search engine, there must be a reason for it. It might be the search results, the layout, the user friendly style or the color that attracts you. That is the service style or culture of that company. Each of the company has their unique style and culture. Users just choose which ever that suits them best. If the merger takes place then there will be changes. I hope a new style or culture will be created instead of following the Microsoft way. Don’t forget that Microsoft is buying Yahoo, which means Microsoft is the new boss. Plus, this is all about making money or business. Reducing the choice for customers benefits the company.
