11th Set Your Domain address Either With or Without www.

I should of pointing this out earlier but then better to be late then never. There was a debate about which is better, having www or without for your domain address. I’m not so sure which one is better but I know that it is not good if you have both. If you start out to have your own domain and hosting services, your blog will automatically be having 2 addresses with or without www. Google search engine will view this as 2 separate blogs. That means separate Page Rank for the same blog but different addresses. That is bad because all your effort of building your blog ranking will be split, imagine having to split the backlinks that you built into half.

Thus it is best to choose your domain address either with or without www before you building up links or backlinks. This is how you do it.

Login to cpanel –> File Manager –> go to public_html folder.

Find .htaccess file and click edit file.

If .htaccess file is not there, then you can create it.

Open or create the .htaccess file and enter the below code

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^XXXXXX\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.XXXXXX.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Replace XXXXXX with your domain name. This will redirect XXXXXX.com to www.XXXXXX.com

Save the .htaccess file and exit your file manager.

Test your blog by entering XXXXXX.com and see if www.XXXXXX.com comes out. If it does then you have done correctly.

Please take note that this method of redirection works only on Linux servers having the Apache Mod-Rewrite module enabled. If you are not sure then just try it out. If it doesn’t work then just reversed the changes you did. You just have to remember and take note of the changes you done.
