Create your Money Making Opportunities Lens on Squidoo

lens money making opportunitiesSquidoo has been around for quite some time. It was launched back in 2005 and has been around for about 5 years. I’ve seen lots of people making full use of this money making opportunities but I did not really try it out until lately. Honestly I was a bit doubt on placing my work and energy to create Squidoo lens.

Let’s take a look at what money making opportunities Squidoo offers. Basically we make money by building lens at Squidoo. Lens is a single page that you can add photos, RSS feeds, links, blogs, eBay auctions, Amazon books, music and many more widgets with a topic that you like. It’s a place where someone can take a look at the brief information and send off to a bigger and more detail destination.  Lens can be a place where you promote your blog or website and get more exposure. Lens can also be a newshound, podcaster or a place to promote your ebooks. Best of all you can even sell off your lens. If you’re able to build a popular lens that draws lots of traffic daily, you can sell it with a high price. Squidoo makes money in two ways, ads and affiliate revenue. Affiliate incomes are from Amazon, eBay, CafePress and many more. As for the ads, it generally means Google Adsense or other contract ads. As a lensmaster you’ll share a certain percentage of the revenue generated by the lens you created. The ads revenue is share base on the LensRank, traffic and qualities of the lenses. The affiliate revenue is share 50% from your lens that generated the revenue directly. You can also make extra money by referring others to join Squidoo. When the people that you referred make its first $15, you’ll get $5. Payments are done via PayPal at the beginning of every month. The minimum payout is set to $10. You can set it to $1 if you like to get the money soon.

I made a couple of lens pointed to couple of my blogs. My main reason is to see how it will affect my blogs and how Squidoo lens can contribute on my blogs. It seems that I can’t just built the lens and leave it. It won’t bring any traffic or benefits unless I spare some of my time daily working on it. Eventually I think Squidoo lens works the same as a blog. If I happen to choose a topic to make money, I think I’ll go for blog instead of Squidoo lens. That’s because I’ll get every penny that I work for if I’m working under my own domain and blog. Unless it is easier to make money fast at Squidoo lens, I see no reason to build my content under it. Besides I don’t have much control over the single page provided too.

P/S: I wonder how much money we can make having a #1 LensRank. If the same content is being built on a blog, will it make more money?
