Google Adsense started to change the in-ads notice icon to a new icon that expands to an “AdChoices” label. The in-ads icon is used to be the special “i” icon in the bottom corner of the ads which expands to an “Ads by Google” label. Users who click the icon will be taken to a page where they are presented about online advertising and the ads they’ve seen. Check out the blog post title “New in-ads notice label and icon” from Google Inside Adsense Blog for detail information about the changes.
As far as I’m concern, I’m just worried about the clicks and the money earned. As it’s all about money making opportunities, there are couple of question I like to ask. Will publishers get paid for the clicks on the icon? And is there penalty for clicking the icon on publishers’ own ads? Actually I won’t be worrying much about the penalty as I don’t click anything around my Google Adsense ads. What I really like to know is that are we getting paid if viewers click on the “i” icon. Honestly, I think everything which appeared on our blog or website is considered advertisement. Publishers should be paid or getting other benefits from Google Adsense for displaying the icon. As clicking on the icon is still considered as a click, I just wonder how this click is calculate under Google Adsense clicks data statistic. I suppose this is the part which Google Adsense should explain and clarify.
