It has been 15 years since the launch of Google AdWords. No doubt it is a great tool to market products and reached specific customers intended. But if you are not careful, you might end up spending lots of money without getting results that you are hoping for. Check out the blog post title “Happy 15th Birthday, AdWords!” from Google Inside AdWords. There is an infographic about Google AdWords and their achievement.
Google AdWords was once a great tool for me to promote affiliate products. Bidding on the right key words can actually reached out to customers who are looking for your affiliate products. I was able to make hundreds of dollars with detail study and careful monitoring Google AdWords progress. But as competitor increases, the price of keywords increases drastically. This is a normal phenomenal because only the person with keywords winning bids makes money. When the price of bidding keywords is more than the money earned from affiliate products sold, it was game over. Once all my AdWords campaign reaches this status, I have to pause all my AdWords campaign temporary. This temporary pause eventually becomes a permanent termination account by Google after several years. Right after I pause my Google AdWords campaign, I left my campaign and setting as it was for years without changing anything. I thought it shouldn’t be a problem because I wasn’t running my campaign. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for Google. When Google declares death sentence, it’s the end. As we all know Google changes their rules and regulations often. If you are not careful, you’ll end up getting your account terminated due to new rules and regulations which you fail to notice. This happens to my Google AdWords account. Yes, they terminate my account even I wasn’t running any Google AdWords campaign at all. And there is no point emailing Google arguing or trying to reasons with them at all. It is like having a conversation but couldn’t communicate with each other even if both are speaking English.
At the end of the day, it is best to just move on to alternative advertising method which is similar with Google AdWords. The effect might not be as good as Google AdWords, but you are still able to make some money out from it if detail study and research are done. Google AdWords is a great tool, but they can be choosy when it comes to picking the right users.
